Tekamah-Herman’s baseball season has officially arrived. Today, March 14th, is the season opener against Plattsmouth High School. The contest is set to begin at 4:30pm. Players and coaches are ready to get things underway for the Tiger’s first baseball season.
The Tekamah-Herman School Board began talks of adding the sport during the October regular monthly meeting. After working through the challenges that arise with offering a new sport, the Board voted in favor of the offering baseball during the December 2023 meeting.
The 2024 squad consists of Seniors: Caden Booth and Isaac Ruwe; Juniors: Cale Belfrage, Nate Braymen, Spencer Pagels, Dylan Petersen, and Tristan Tobin; Sophomores: Grady Belfrage, Parke Loftis, Landon Miller, and Rylan Rix; Freshman: Michael Lytle, Logan Radney, and Noah Rempe. The team’s student managers are Addysen Lytle and Addisen Reyzlik.
Head Coach Zane Boswell will be in his first-year coaching varsity baseball. He brings a lot of prior knowledge of the sport to the table including many years coaching summer youth baseball and softball. He has also been an umpire. Mason Vrbka was chosen as the 2024 season assistant coach. Vrbka is not new to the sport either. Mason has experience coaching Legion baseball as well as assisting with the Norfolk High baseball program.
Preparing for the new season provided some new challenges for Taylor Klein, Tekamah-Herman’s Athletic Director. Ordering uniforms, scheduling games, hiring umpires, organizing ticket-takers, and working with the Ball Association has been coming together nicely to be ready to kick off the season. Coaches remarked that it is fun to see how excited the boys are to have the opportunity to play and have a baseball season during high school.
Admission to our home games is $4/student and $5/adults. Tekamah-Herman School passes will be accepted at home events. You may also view our home contests on the school’s District Hudl page. Good Luck to the Tigers on their baseball season!
